12 MOTNHS of SHINE PV: WP2 updates

January 15, 2026

We are celebrating the first year of SHINE PV by sharing with you our great achievements so far!

☀️ WP2: Novel Post‑Processing Techniques

We aim to optimize Light Soaking (LS) on SHJ cells to deliver a +0.3% absolute efficiency gain and enhance Cut‑Edge Repassivation (ERP) to recover around 80% of performance losses from cell cutting in both SHJ and TOPCon technologies.

🚀 What We Achieved by M12
• Industrial Light Soaking ovens successfully installed and optimized at 3SUN and CEA, delivering a stable ~+0.3% efficiency gain for SHJ and reducing final performance dispersion.
• Early TOPCon trials show higher performance with LS compared to traditional annealing methods, with LS–LECO interactions under evaluation.
• Cut‑edge repassivation processes validated at CEA and Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE, achieving:
– Up to 90% recovery for SHJ (shingle configuration)
– Nearly 100% recovery for TOPCon half‑cells (without LECO)
• Industrial integration continues, including using the Light Soaking process itself to activate final passivation layers for SHJ.
