We are excited to share a recent publication from our partners Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE and RENA Technologies GmbH, showcasing cutting-edge progress in inline plating for industrial TOPCon silicon solar cells.
🔍 Key insights:
- Use of inline plating metallization technique to reduce silver usage in the production of tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) silicon solar cells.
- Combination of ultrashort-pulse UV laser patterning and electrochemical deposition of Ni, Cu, and Ag achieved up to 24% efficiency with silver consumption reduced to 1.1 mg/Wp.
- Demonstrated potential of inline plating using pilot line equipment developed by RENA Technologies GmbH.
- Developed mitigation strategies for adhesion and process stability.
- Mini-module reliability tests demonstrated promising resistance to degradation.
