SHINE PV Partner Research Featured in PV Magazine

The SHINE PV project was recently mentioned in the PV Magazine article “New tech reduces silver use in TOPCon solar cells by a factor of 10”.

The article highlighs innovative research led by our partner, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE (Fraunhofer ISE), in collaboration with RENA Technologies GmbH.

The research focuses on significantly reducing silver consumption in solar cell metallization. In their research, Fraunhofer ISE demonstrated a substantial reduction in silver usage for TOPCon solar cells by applying an electrodeposition‑based metallization process, reducing silver consumption to just 1.1 mg/Wp, compared to current industry levels of 10–12 mg/Wp.
